Using multiple Web browsers can help you get your work accomplished more effectively and with the greatest concern for security online. By using different browsers for different tasks, you keep your more sensitive information from being readily available to an unsafe website.
You should use one browser for ONLY online banking. Then choose another to to read your favorite blogs or online magazines. You may even want to have a third browser you strictly use for just email.
So which web browsers to use? Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Opera and so on… Is any one browser better than the others? It depends on what features you want in a browser and how old your PC is that is going to be running these browsers. You will probably have to test drive a few and see which ones you like best.
Most of the major browsers have decent security features like private browsing which hides your history, cookies and temporary internet files. If your PC is older, you may find it better to run Google Chrome because of its speed. Getta Geek uses Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari. These four browsers run the same on both PCs and Macs. Opera also has an “Opera Mini” version for cell phones. Internet Explorer only runs on Microsoft Windows, (which seems to be a favorite target for hackers).
Getta Geek’s Official Rankings and comments:
Firefox is number one due to the speed and many add-ons, customizations you can make for this browser.
Google Chrome comes in second due to the speed of web surfing.
Opera and Safari are tied for third. Both run well on most PCs. Opera has the neat Speed Dial feature and Safari has the cool graphics, much like cover flow for the iPod, for your history.
Internet Explorer is OK, just don’t like a web browser that is so tied into a specific operating system.
